justprompts Is there such a thing as truly wiping the slate clean and starting over?

There's dust when you wipe the slate clean. Even if you use water, that leaves behind residue as well. If you throw the slate out the window it doesn't disappear. If you smash it into a million pieces, those pieces still exist.

I have started over many times so I know. All the dust and all the broken pieces are always still there.

Chalk dust is beautiful. And water, when it falls in drops on the table. The cheapest glass can glitter like crystal when crushed. It's wondrous if you know how to look.

Stars start over, just like us. Everything starts over eventually. Everything… continues.

No, there is no such thing as wiping the slate clean. And there shouldn't be. Recycling is good for the environment.

Go green.

Well, you know I always worry, but all right. And Katie's still mad we did Christmas in Hawaii. Something about being promised a horse last year.

I know you do.

Oh, that. Welll, we may have to take a trip out to a horse farm sometime soon. I promised I'd teach her to ride.
Lorna Daneerikscordelia on January 10th, 2011 08:29 pm (UTC)
Okay, but that doesn't mean she gets to keep the horse! It wouldn't fit in her bedroom.

I told her as much. She asked for a bedroom it'd fit in, and I told her we'd talk when she pays rent. She giggled at me.

Doesn't mean we can't board her one maybe. One day, if she takes to it.

You are nearly as impossible as my mother. And your mother. And Alex. And Scott. And Becky. And the fifty other people who spoil her.

Of course, I always wanted a horse when I was a girl.
Sam Guthrie: lots on my mindroughnecksam on January 10th, 2011 08:43 pm (UTC)
Only nearly. You're lucky I stop my ma from all the spoiling she wants to do.

Maybe we'll have to get ourselves a family horse to board.
Lorna Daneerikscordelia on January 10th, 2011 08:48 pm (UTC)
You do remember we live in a city, right?

You've a way with words, though.
Sam Guthrie: yes ma'amroughnecksam on January 10th, 2011 08:50 pm (UTC)
Sure do. And there's countryside only about an hour's drive away. Even less as the mutant flies.

I get it from my pa.
Lorna Dane: BP: Please Don't Break My Hearterikscordelia on January 10th, 2011 08:57 pm (UTC)
Yes, yes, well so long as you are willing to bring her whenever she wants to go.

I wish I'd known him.
Sam Guthrie: serious sam is seriousroughnecksam on January 10th, 2011 08:59 pm (UTC)
Of course. So long as her chores are done and I'm not on a mission, I'll take her.

I wish you had, too. But you know my family. It's the next best thing. We're all of us a little bit of my pa.

Oh, you're good, can we keep you?

That's really sweet. You're all wonderful.
Sam Guthrie: could be devlishroughnecksam on January 10th, 2011 09:18 pm (UTC)
As long as you'd like.

Thanks. That's... they all love you, y'know. Even Paige, though she's a bit of a hard sell sometimes.
Lorna Dane: BP: Bad Newserikscordelia on January 10th, 2011 09:25 pm (UTC)
Paige wants to protect you, seems perfectly reasonable to me.

You still want me, Sam?
Sam Guthrie: sweet boyroughnecksam on January 10th, 2011 09:27 pm (UTC)
I don't need protecting. I'm the big brother.

Of course I do. More every day.

That's why, silly.
