Everyone has a breaking point.
She joined homosuperior early and late. Early because she was born noticeably different. Late because her innate abilities did not manifest until she was nearly twenty. But despite this the same day she was finally named 'mutant' she was asked almost simultaneously to join the X-Men or the Brotherhood.
The Brotherhood was led by a man who claimed to be her father.
But the X-Men had Bobby. He'd frozen a puddle for her. Lorna always has had a weakness for gentlemanly manners.
It had been the right decision; it turned out while the X-Men were not exactly widely known to be heroes, the Brotherhood were -- and are -- renowned terrorists. Lorna became Polaris.
She never had a secret identity so she didn't miss it when it was taken away. But things were different now.
The attack had brought everything home. Being Magneto's daughter takes its toll, living in Gotham takes its toll, being a superhuman with HAMMER in charge takes its toll. All of it at once --
Everyone has a breaking point.
Since hearing the news she has had the impetus to Do Something. Everyone had cautioned her to be careful. With what she said, with what she did. Who she is, they tell her, be careful. But she is tired. Tired of losing. Tired of waiting.

Burial or Cremation.
Catholics are not cremated, generally.
A while back there was a meme question, I don't remember it exactly...what the question was? But I remember I answered that I would die of old age because it is very difficult to kill me. And nearly everyone else assumed they would die young because we live violent dangerous lives.
So does everyone.
Life is fragile.
There is a lot of hate in the world. There is a lot of violence in the world. There is a lot of danger in the world.
People die of so many causes and for so many reasons.
If we break down all matter to its elemental properties, everything is made up of exactly the same everything as everything else. In a billion years everyone alive today will be stardust.
Stars die every day. The ones in the sky. They are already dead.

James Dean said it: “Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today.”
He died young. That doesn't mean I will.

Statement
I have been advised not to comment publicly on yesterday's
attack on the Entertainment Mile in central Gotham. However, I refuse to stay silent.
There is no -- NO -- justification for this attack. I do not accept the fiction that prejudice must be met with violence. It is not only dangerous, it is damaging. It is not only wrong, it is repulsive.
The Brotherhood of Mutants are not freedom-fighters, they are not soldiers of fortune or any other romantic nomenclature they wish to assign themselves. They are terrorists. They are bullies who throw bombs at babies and run away.

Is how Lorna greets Henry when he returns from work. Kara has her obsessing over it. No, Kara’s comments have her obsessing over it. Kara can’t force her to do or feel anything, Lorna’s mind says, lecturing. Lorna’s focus is often thus divided. The internal monologue speeding one way and the external behaviour careening another. It’s a hard way to be and an even harder way to follow. Henry blinks.
